Yoru Agent Guide

Yoru is Agent number 14 in Valorant, released at the beginning of Episode two in early 2021. He is a fast-paced Duelist who thrives at creating chaos and distracting the enemies.

Since he was introduced to the game, Yoru struggled with finding his position in the meta quite a bit. Jett, Raze, Reyna, etc., dominated the meta for a long time, and his kit couldn't match other Duelists.

For that reason, Riot decided to rework Yoru earlier this year and tried to make him more viable. Although Yoru still isn't the number one option, he is in a much healthier spot than he used to be.

Yoru Ability Guide

Signature Ability - Gatecrash: Yoru equips a rift tether and sends the tether forward. Use alternate fire to place a stationary tether and activate it to teleport to the tether's location. You can also press F button to trigger a fake teleport.

Q - Blindside: Yoru rips an unstable dimensional fragment from reality. Use fire to throw the fragment, activating a flash that winds up once it collides with a hard surface in the world.

How to play Yoru

Yoru is a Duelist, so his primary goal is to make aggressive plays and lead his team when taking a bomb site. Yoru is a kind of Agent who excels in making space for his team by creating chaos.

His kit is very disruptive and can be really annoying for the enemy to deal with. However, you have to be very careful not to get predictable when playing Yoru, cause you will be an easy target for opponents.

Keep in mind that Yoru is much more difficult to deal with when his team backs him up. He is excellent at making distractions and being super annoying when you know he can teleport behind you while you have the rest of his team to worry about.

Yoru's deceiving abilities allow you to be extremely creative with your gameplay. There are so many ways you can play around his Gatecrash and Fakeout on both Attack and Defense. For example, you can run in a straight line pretending you are the clone, catching enemies entirely off guard.

His flash takes some time to get used to, but it is really potent once you learn how to use it properly. The same goes for his Ultimate, as it is an incredible tool for gaining info and going deep into enemy territory, but you have to make use of the cooldown and communicate it with your teammates.

Team compositions and position in the meta

Yoru still has issues finding his place in the meta; however, the rework helped him immensely. He has even started to see some pro play action, but he is still not a priority in drafts.

His issue remains that there are better Duelists, even though he isn't bad himself. Raze and Jett simply provide more in most cases; however, Yoru is definitely viable, and you shouldn't shy away from picking him in your games.

Since Yoru isn't an Operator user, make sure to have Chamber or Jett in your team before locking him in. Since you rarely see double-Duelist team comps nowadays, Yoru works best when supported by a strong Initiator(or two) and a Controller.
