World Championship Set 7 Recap
The World Championship of Set 7 concluded today with Chinese representative Xunge winning it all after an intensive three-day event. The matches were intense and there were multiple people ready to win the championship due to how close it was towards the last rounds, but in the end, Xunge overcame the challenge and took down his opponents.
Event Recap
The tournament began with the best 32 players across all regions of the world playing in the first 2 days 10 games each. The top 8 scores following the 10 games advanced to the third day of the tournament.
The top 8 people who qualified for the last day were split across the following regions:
- China 3
- NA 1
- Japan 1
- Korea 1
- Argentina 2
The games were very intense and 5 out of 8 players reached the 18th point threshold at the same time. The first player to secure a win after this would be crowned champion.
With the stakes high and every move counting, Xunge swooped in to dominate his opponents in the last game and secure the title of world champion of set 7. On top of these bragging rights, the player secured a prize of $150,000.
The runner-up secured $75,000 while the third and fourth place secured $25,000 and $20,000 respectively. While all regions showed great performance, China definitely showed up the best. Three out of eight players qualified for the final day and finished in the top 4.
