VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters - Group Stage Recap

Copenhagen Masters Group Stage is in the books. After four days of competition, four teams advanced to Playoffs, where they will meet four seeded teams that skipped the Group Stage.

The Group Stage was nothing short of very exciting, with the best teams in the world showcasing excellent Valorant. We have also already witnessed big upsets as well as positive surprises in the first few days of the tournament.

Here is everything that has happened in Copenhagen so far.

Group Stage results

Coming into the tournament, Group A was seen as a "group of death" between the two, and it certainly lived up to the name.

EMEA's hot team Guild Esports secured first place in Group A. First, they swept the reigning Masters champions, NA's OpTic Gaming, and later defeated LATAM's KRÜ Esports to secure playoffs.

The team joining them in the playoffs is OpTic Gaming, who managed to bounce back after losing to Guild in the opening match. In an unlikely Stage 1 Masters Grand final rematch vs. Brazil's LOUD, they managed to pull off a reverse sweep and knocked them out of the tournament.

Finally, OpTic clinched a playoff berth with a convincing 2-0 victory over KRÜ.

In Group B, Korean DRX carried on with their excellent form in 2022 and secured the top spot by defeating Japan's Northeption and EU's FunPlus Phoenix.

However, FPX managed to advance to playoffs despite playing with a last-minute substitute SEIDER due to SUYGETSU failing to get the visa in time. After beating APAC's XERXIA in the opening match, they clinched playoffs by defeating Northeption 2-0 in the decider match.
