VCT Last Chance Qualifiers Recap: Last Champions Spots Secured

With the VCT Last Chance Qualifiers in the books, we know all sixteen teams qualified for the 2022 Valorant Champions. Ten teams secured their spots via Circuit points, while the remaining six secured their tickets to Istanbul via LCQ.

The regional LCQ tournaments featured the best performing teams from the regions, who competed in a double-elimination bracket to secure the final spots for the Valorant Champions.

North America

The third North American team that will join OpTic Gaming and XSET in Istanbul is 100 Thieves.

After a loss versus FaZe Clan in the Upper bracket semifinal, 100Thieves made an incredible run through the Lower bracket. After beating Sentinels 2-1, they defeated Could 9, FaZe Clan, and finally The Guard without dropping a map.

After a turbulent year and many roster changes, Asuna and the squad return to the international stage for their debut at Champions.

EMEA

Copenhagen Masters champions FunPlus Phoenix and Fnatic have already secured their Champions spots, joined by Team Liquid, who won the European LCQ tournament.

Team Liquid was one of the favorites to win the tournament, which they did after defeating M3C in the Grand final. TL bounced back after their initial loss to M3C in the Upper bracket finals by knocking out G2 Esports, before getting revenge on M3C when it mattered the most.

It is important to mention that the 2021 Valorant Champions Acend won't get the chance to defend the title from Berlin, as they got knocked out from LCQ very early on with defeats to M3C and G2 Esports.

South America

South American Last Chance Qualifiers featured teams from Brazil and LATAM regions, and it is the only tournament with two Champions spots up for grabs.

Teams securing the final two South American spots are LATAM's KRÜ Esports and Brazilian team FURIA. Alongside LOUD and Leviatan, they round up the roster of four South American teams heading to Valorant Champions, two from LATAM and two from Brazil.

APAC

APAC's Last Chance Qualifier was the first to end, as Indonesian team BOOM Esports ran through the bracket without a loss. BOOM will join Paper Rex and XERXIA, representing a region that showed constant improvement throughout 2022.

East Asia

Besides Japanese and Korean teams, East Asian LCQ featured Chinese teams for the first time in Valorant history. Against all odds, the Chinese League of Legends powerhouse organization EDward Gaming completely rolled over the tournament.

Despite Valorant not even being out in China, EDG crushed the much more experienced competition without even dropping a single map. They will join Korea's DRX and Japanese ZETA Division as the final participants at the 2022 Valorant Champions.
