VCT 2022: Stage 2 Challengers - Week 2 Recap

The action-packed weekend of VCT Stage 2 Challengers is now in the books. As the competition is heating up, we bring you another weekly recap of the action across all major regions.

North America

VCT Stage 1 Challengers Champions The Guard are yet to find their first win in Stage 2, as they lost to Ghost Gaming 2-1. To add insult to injury, Ghost demolished them 13-1 on their own map pick, which was Haven.

In the same group, TSM bounced back from their loss in Week 1 and beat 100Thieves 2-0.
Finally, XSET kept the perfect score with another 2-0 victory. Their deadly attacking side on Bind and Split was too much to handle for NRG, as XSET now sits alone at the top of group A.

To kick off the action in group B, Luminosity took down Faze Clan 2-0. Although Faze didn't win a map, it was far from an easy triumph for LG, as the score was 13-11 and 14-12.

Sentinels are still nowhere near their 2021 form, as they remain winless throughout Week 2. This time around, EG had the upper hand and secured their first win of Stage 2.

Cloud 9 and OpTic Gaming closed out the action in group B with an amazing best-of-3 series. After a clean 13-4 performance by C9on Icebox, OpTic completed a reverse sweep with a convincing win on Ascent and a great comeback on Haven.

EMEA

Day one of the European Stage 2 Challengers week 2 started with Team Liquid and BBL matchup. TL secured their second win with a triple OT win on Fracture and 13-9 on Split.
Derke seems to like his switch to Chamber with Fnatic dismantling OG LDN UTD 13-4 and 13-0 on the back of his 46 combined kills on Haven and Icebox.

On day 2, FPX snatched a very important 2-0 victory over G2, as their struggles continue. They are now 0-2 and have a very difficult task in front of them if they want to secure their Copenhagen spot.
On the contrary, Guild continues to impress, as they join Team Liquid on top of Group B with a 2-1 victory over BIG. After a close battle on Icebox and Fracture, Guild secured a win with a clean Haven performance.

On Sunday, M3C found their first win of Stage 2 versus NAVI. The match with three blowout map wins went the way of M3C 2-1.
Finally, Ascend took down FOKUS 2-1 and stayed on top of Group A alongside Fnatic.
