Power Picks - Patch 12.20

Now that the changes from the latest patch have settled, let's take a look at some of the best champions to use on the Rift.

Blitzcrank

Bltizcrank received a slew of buffs that were intended to make him a viable jungler. Although he's a decent (but unusual) pick in the jungle, these buffs have inadvertently made him an incredible support.

He still has the same easy to pick up kit, and now has even more damage to help blow up any enemies you're able to hook. This can be critical in the early game when some hooked enemies may be able to slip away, but getting an early kill for your ADC can help them snowball to victory.

Elise & Evelynn

Both of these junglers received some buffs to their ganking and pick potential, making them two of the best junglers on the patch. The changes to Elise's Q attack range make her combos feel much smoother, and pulling off ganks a little easier. Given Elise's strong power in the early game, it's cruical you gank often and get your laners ahead.

Meanwhile, Evelynn's objective in the early game is to reach level 6 as quickly as possible so she can unlock her stealth. Her charm duration is now longer, making it easier to blow up targets she catches out.

If you're torn between the two, Elise is stronger in the early game but can fall off later on. Evelynn struggles before level 6, but has huge playmaking potential from then on by finding picks onto squishy carries.

Tristana

Tristana received some buffs to her Q attack speed in 12.16, and has slowly risen up the ADC tier list. She has high burst damage, great scaling between the Q attack speed and passive attack range, and good mobility. Additionally, her E allows her to take turrets very quickly and pick up several turret plates.

She's particularly effective when paired with an engage support in the early game, like Nautilus or Blitzcrank. If they can land their CC, Tristana can instantly jump on the enemy and use her E to literally blow them up. This combo with an Ignite is typically enough to secure a kill in the early laning phase, allowing Trist to snowball.
