Patch Overview - Patch 12.13

The latest updates some long ignored champions, nerfs some of the most oppressive picks, and makes changes to objective bounties.

Master Yi

Master Yi has always been a feast or famine champion, and has struggled in higher elos. His kit has received a mini update to make him more viable and add more skill expression:

  • Attack range increased to 175, up from 125
  • Q (Alpha Strike) - you can now choose where Master Yi will be placed once the ability has been cast
  • W (Meditate) - cooldown reduced to 9 seconds
  • Mana cost - 40 + 6% maximum mana per second, changed from 50
  • Damage reduction - 90% for the first 0.5 seconds, reduced to 45/47.5/50/52.5/55% for the remainder of the channel
  • Lingering damage reduction - lasts for 0.5 seconds after Meditate ends

Choosing where you will land once Q has finished casting is a huge change, as it can help you get out of tricky situations or surprise the enemy with aggressive positioning. It's now more important to pop W just as the enemy uses their most lethal abilities, as this will provide the 90% damage reduction.

The Yi changes were so successful that Riot released a hotfix nerf:

  • Base AD reduced to 65, down from 66
  • AD growth reduced to 2.5, down from 3
  • Q (Alpha Strike) cooldown increased to 20/19.5/19/18.5/18, up from 18/17.5/17/16.5/16

Junglers

Other junglers have received changes this patch. Volibear has been an excellent pick for a while now, so has received some nerfs to his damage and mobility:

  • Q (Thundering Smash) - movement speed reduced to 8/12/16/20/24%, down from 10/14/18/22/26%
  • Damage reduced to 10/30/50/70/90 (+120% bonus AD), down from 20/40/60/80/100
  • W (Frenzied Maul) - damage reduced to 5/30/55/80/105 (+100% AD, +5% bonus health), down from 10/35/60/85/110 (+100% AD, + 6% bonus health)
  • E (Skysplitter) - 80/110/140/170/200 (+80% AP) (+9/10/11/12/13% of target's maximum health), down from +11/12/13/14/15% of target's maximum health

Elise has been struggling for a while, even before the durability update. Her early game damage has been increased to make her even more a tower diving threat:

  • Health increased to 650, up from 625
  • Health growth increased to 109, up from 107
  • Base armour increased to 30, up from 27
  • Q, human form (Neurotoxin) - damage increased to 40/75/110/145/180, up from 40/70/100/130/160

Since the durability update, Evelynn has been much less of a threat and isn't able to pop anybody like she used to. She has therefore received some buffs:

  • Passive (Demon Shade) - self heal at low health increased to 15-150 (levels 1-18) per second, up from 15-75
  • W (Allure) - enemy MR reduction increased to 35/37.5/40/42.5/45%, up from 25/27.5/30/32.5/35%
  • Ultimate (Last Caress) - using your ult now puts your passive on a 1.25 second cooldown, instead of the usual 4 seconds

Charming enemies will now make them more vulnerable, while the changes to her ult offers Evelynn more options once she's used it. By going into stealth quicker, you can now either escape quicker or look for a sneaky re-engage.

Corki and Taliyah

Two of the most popular pro picks have been changed slightly. Corki's long range poke has always been very frustrating to play against, considering he can shred through health bars from a few screens away. Some of his late game power has been shifted from his long range ult into his short range E:

  • E (Gattling Gun) - damage per tick increased to 7.5/10.63/13.75/16.88/20 (+15% bonus AD), up from +10% AD
  • Ultimate (Missile Barrage) - standard rocket damage reduced to 80/115/150 (+15/45/75% AD) (+12% AP), down from 90/125/160 (+15/45/75% AD) (+20% AP)
  • Big one rocket damage reduced to 160/230/300 (+30/90/150% AD) (+24% AP), down from 180/250/320 (+30/90/150% AD) (+40% AP)

After her mini rework, Taliyah was nerfed after being a little too strong. She has recieved some QoL buffs and damage buffs to her Q:

  • Passive (Rock Surfing) is no longer cancelled by damage over time (such as Liandry's Anguish)
  • Ultimate (Weaver's Wall) no longer goes on cooldown when Taliyah damages wards and traps

  • Q (Threaded Volley) - 1 rock damage increased to 45/65/85/105/125 (+50% AP), up from 40/60/80/100/120
  • 5 rock damage increased to 117/169/221/273/325 (130% AP), up from 104/156/208/260/312
  • Boulder damage increased to 85.5/123.5/161.5/199.5/237.5 (+95% AP), up from 76/114/152/190/228
  • New effect - hitting jungle monsters with Taliyah's boulder now stuns them for 3 seconds
  • Mana cost reduced to 55/60/65/70/75, down from 60/65/70/75/80
  • Bonus damage against monsters reduced to 25 (+10% AP), down from 30

Summary

With a couple of reworks and a new champion debuting onto the Rift, it's unsurprising we've already had 2 hotfixes in the patch, so watch this space for even more!
