Neon is a Filipino ultra fast-paced Duelist Agent who uses electricity to defeat her foes. She got introduced to Valorant at the beginning of Episode 4 in January 2022.

Neon cherishes a high-risk, high-reward playstyle as she brings chaos to the battlefield with her speed. She is a unique Duelist whose job is to disrupt the enemy team and take them down before they even know what hit them.

Neon Ability Guide

C - Fast Lane: Neon fires two energy lines forward on the ground that extend a short distance or until they hit a surface. The lines rise into walls of static electricity that block vision and damage enemies passing through them.

How to play Neon

It took quite a long time for players to understand how to use the Agent properly. Neon is a Duelist that creates highly disruptive and almost chaotic entrances to a site.

Her Fast Lane ability provides an alternative to Jett's smoke-dash combo, as Neon can use it to relatively safely break through chokepoints. And that is really the biggest Neon's strength, as she excels at one of the hardest parts of Attacking in Valorant.

Besides entering a site, Neon utilizes her insane speed in multiple ways. She is able to rotate very fast, which is very useful when defending. Also, Neon is so fast that she can fake a site push on one side alone and still catch up to her teammates on the other side after selling a fake.

However, the most important use of Neon's kit is taking early space on the map. That way, you can apply pressure on the enemy team and open up other areas of the map for your teammates. Sometimes you will get caught, but Neon only knows aggression.

On that note, Neon is an Agent that can carry a game despite not having the greatest stats. Since you are always on the frontline, dying a lot doesn't mean you did a bad job. If you created space for your team to take the site that won you the round, you did a good job.

It doesn't mean you should grief too much and run it down every round with no backup when playing Neon. It just means she requires a bit more coordination as a Duelist than usual. Bring your KAY/O or Breach with you, and you will have a much better time, especially if you properly coordinate your utility.

Team compositions and position in the meta

Since Jett, Reyna, and Raze exist, Neon is not really in the spotlight in most games. Especially since Neon relies more on her team to play off of her and capitalize on the disruption she creates. That's why she is less valuable in Solo queue games where teams aren't as coordinated.

However, Neon is far from being a bad Agent, and she definitely has her place in the meta. OpTic Gaming showed us in the past few months how valuable a good Neon player and a team that can play around her can be, especially on maps like Fracture and Haven.

Her loud run and gun playstyle reminds of an Apex Legends character in a way. It is unique to Valorant and certainly very fun to play, so don't shy away from picking Neon next time you queue up.
