MP40 History and Breakdown
The MP40 (Maschinepistole 40) is a German SMG that has been frequently featured in the Call of Duty franchise. It has been featured in all the World War II installments as well as other titles like Advanced Warfare and the Black Ops series.
MP40’s History in the Call of Duty Franchise
The MP40 is Edward Richtofen's favorite weapon, and he has quotes specifically for the weapon when it is purchased. In Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, players will notice the name of the gun engraved on its back.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the MP40 can come with an adjustable stock, but only if it is obtained from the Mystery Box and not one of its wall buy locations. Call of Duty: Black Ops players can get the MP40 in “Five” and Moon by using console commands on PC.
MP40 Breakdown
The MP40 in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone is one of the best weapons out there. It has been a powerhouse weapon since Season 1 thanks to its high damage and low recoil. It also has one of the highest handling speeds among all SMGs. If you want to unlock SMG’s potential to its fullest, here is one of the best loadout options out there right now.
The best way to use the MP40 is in short-range situations. It allows you to move around the map and take enemies out before they can react properly. The high handling speed makes it one of the most consistent SMGs in the game and if you use our go-to loadout, you will be mowing down enemies.
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: Krausnick 221mm O1B
- Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
- Magazine: 9MM 64 Round Drums
- Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
- Stock: Krausnick 33M Folding
- Ammo Type: Hollow Point
- Proficiency: Momentum
- Kit: Fully Loaded
The Recoil Booster makes the MP40 fire even faster which gives you some extra DPS. The Mark VI Skeletal, Krausnick 221mm O1B, Fabric Grip, and Krausnick 33m Folding come together to offer a very consistent running and gunning experience. To top everything off, we take advantage of the Momentum proficiency which allows you to chain kills while moving faster.
One of the downsides of the MP40 is that it burns through ammo very quickly and if you are inaccurate, you will find yourself reloading in the middle of a gunfight. Our loadout includes the 9mm 64 Round Drums to double your ammo capacity in each clip, which makes the MP40 a lot more forgiving.
The MP40 has a lot of good qualities and it is a brilliant weapon at short range but it does fall off at longer ranges. We recommend a long-range weapon to pair with the MP40 like a sniper rifle or marksman rifle to get the best experience possible.
